Trans Week of Visibility Children’s Reading Hour
Meet us at Books & Mortar for our annual Trans Week of Visibility Children’s Reading Hour w/ bookmark making! We will be reading kids books that explore gender-expansiveness and acceptance. Family-friendly event; kids of all ages welcome! 12:30-1:30 pm: Children’s Reading Hour 1:30-2:30 pm: Children’s Bookmark-Making Station Free, All Ages. This Trans Week of Visibility event is a collaborative effort between Grand Rapids Trans Foundation, Grand Rapids Pride Center, and the GVSU Milt Ford Legacy Collective: Rainbow Resource Center. ACCESSIBILITY FOR BOOKS & MORTAR: -Curb cuts and a ramped incline (no steps) are available to access the venue’s front door. -Venue is accessible via the Lake/Diamond bus stop on Route 6. -Want to carpool? Cheers, Queers! A Non-Alcoholic Meetup
Join us this Thursday for "Cheers, Queers! A Non-Alcoholic Meetup" at @lotusbrewcoffeedrybar! ✨ "Cheers, Queers!" is a vibrant and casual meetup for the West Michigan's Trans & Queer Community! Come reconnect with old friends (and meet some new ones)! This bimonthly event alternates between a standard happy hour at Brewery Vivant, and a non-alcoholic meetup at Lotus Brew. ✨ Co-sponsored by @grtransfoundation & @grandrapidspridecenter.

Trans Week of Visibility Rage Room
Break Room Therapy is opening their doors to provide you the space to let out your TRANS RAGE for Trans Week of Visibility! Reservation costs are $15 per person, and only 2 people are allowed in a room at a time. 30-minute sessions. You must be at least 13 or above and wearing thick-soled tennis shoes. Pre-registration may be required. Please mark “Attending” to get updates! $15/person, ages 13+. This Trans Week of Visibility event is a collaborative effort between Grand Rapids Trans Foundation, Grand Rapids Pride Center, and the GVSU Milt Ford Legacy Collective: Rainbow Resource Center. ACCESSIBILITY FOR BREAK ROOM THERAPY: -Venue is not located on a public bus route. -Want to carpool? Comment in the “discussion” tab! -Free parking available at the venue. -Reserved accessible parking is available. -Curb cuts and ramps are available to access the venue’s front door. -Venue has a single-stall, wheelchair-accessible, all-gender restroom.
Trans Week of Visibility Dance Party
Let’s celebrate Trans joy with a dance party! Grand Rapids Trans Foundation, Grand Rapids Pride Center, and GVSU Milt Ford Legacy Collective: Rainbow Resource Center are teaming up to produce a night of dancing and celebration at Hub07, and we’re welcoming Trans & Queer community members and allies to this FREE event! This event will welcome all ages for the first half (6:00-7:30pm) and will shift to an 18+ event for the second half (7:30-9:00)! Featuring: *Dancing & Music! *Trans Joy Spotlights *Giveaways *And more! This Trans Week of Visibility event is a collaborative effort between Grand Rapids Trans Foundation, Grand Rapids Pride Center, and the GVSU Milt Ford Legacy Collective: Rainbow Resource Center. ACCESSIBILITY FOR HUB07: -Accessible via the route 2 bus. Bus stop is Fuller and Ramona. -Want to carpool? Respond in the “discussion” section of this event. -Multiple wheelchair-accessible restroom stalls are available. There are two gendered restrooms and one “family” restroom. -Onsite parking and multiple accessible parking spaces. -Doorways are wide; all are double doors without poles in the middle. -There is an elevator. -Variety of seating types and spaces.
Community Resources
TRANSportation Program
The TRANSportation Program provides FREE transportation-related support to the local Trans & Nonbinary community. Currently, program support is limited to renewable monthly bus fare (The Rapid) and Uber rides (for specific appointments that are not accessible via other methods).

Our “Gender Junk” Closet provides FREE and on-demand gender-affirming items (new and gently used) for the local Trans & Nonbinary community. We have both a stable closet for the community to utilize at any time, as well as the option to secure free, brand-new items that we order through our business partners! Items are available in inclusive sizing and skin tone.
View Details"Update!" Program
Our “Update!” program is here to assist Trans and Nonbinary people with updating their names, gender markers, and legal documents! Currently, we offer start-to-finish assistance for legal Name Changes and on-demand assistance with legal document updates (like Social Security, Drivers License, State ID, Birth Certificate, and Passport). We provide guidance, advocacy, legal assistance, and financial support (if needed). These programs are provided in-office or virtually, and support is on a “first come, first serve” basis.

This scholarship fund is to help Transgender students with education-related expenses while pursuing a degree or certificate from a college, university, or technical/vocational program with a satellite campus or permanent presence in Kent County, MI. There is no residency requirement. This award is open to people who identify as Transgender (which may include Non-binary, Two-Spirit, third gender, transsexual, and/or any other non-cis gender identity) and who demonstrate financial need. No age or GPA requirement. Students of color and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
